Marianne Frances Holmes

Marianne Holmes, Broken Arrow resident, passed away Wednesday evening, November 21, 2018, with family by her side at the age of 78 years. She was born on November 10, 1940 in Floral Park, NY to her parents, Walter Zauner and Emilie Burr. Marianne was an only child and had polio as a young child. She graduated Baldwin High School in Baldwin, NY.

In 1960, she married Ronald Wallace Holmes. She was a Homemaker. Marianne and her family lived in Minnesota, Colorado, and Florida before residing in Oklahoma. While in Colorado, she was very active in various organizations. She served as President of the Women's Club of Colorado, helped set up and maintain the Davidson's Mesa Rest Area outside of Boulder, Colorado. She was also a member of Boulder Jaycees; a Boulder Emergency Squad Auxiliary member; and a Guardian for Bethel 26 Jobe's daughters.

Marianne enjoyed sewing, crocheting, building floats for parades, and hosting dinner parties for various community organizations. She loved canning pickles every summer (she was famous for her dill pickles); enjoyed snowmobiling in MN; playing bridge; active member of various bridge clubs; loved playing board games and card games with her family. She also enjoyed planning memorable family vacations.
Marianne is preceded in death by Walter Zauner (Father), Emilie Burr (Mother).

She leaves many loving memories with her family, daughters, Katharine Colvin and husband, Anthony, Joanne Bentley, Suzanne Remedies and husband, Kevin; sister Martha Zackman; brothers, Joel Burr and Bruce Burr; grandchildren, Desiree Miller, Nicole Miller, Jacob Colvin, Hunter Colvin and wife Shelby, James Remedies, Colton Remedies, Tyler Remedies, Michael Bentley, Taryn Selke and husband Steve; great-grandchildren, Cuyler Colvin, Brynlee Colvin, Abigaile Bentley, Jaycie Selke, Jaxten Selke, Bohdie Selke, Hailey Birdwhistell, Kayla King, Alexis Noreen, John Miller, Ian Madrazo, and Evan Madrazo; as well as many other loving family members.

A Celebration of Marianne will be held at a later date at Schaudt’s Tulsa Funeral Service.
