Maria Pamela Deek

February 22, 1953 — September 25, 2017

Maria Pamela Ragan Byrne Deek passed away on Monday, September 25th, 2017. She was loved, and surrounded by family in her final weeks of this life. She was a loving daughter, sister, cousin, wife, mother, aunt, and friend.

Pam lived life on her own terms, and almost ended it in the same manner. She joked halfheartedly about how great her death was going to be; a reunion, an adoption, a wedding, and a funeral. Two of her wishes came true, the former and the latter - the rest she'll have to take her family's word for.

She was a true daughter of the world, and lived in Singapore, Australia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and the United States, adopting the best part of all cultures.

A true storyteller that would make an Irishman proud, Pam never once let the truth get in the way of a good yarn, and always tailored her tales to a captive audience who hung on every word she said. Though this trait was to the dismay of her children in their youth, later in life they would regale family and friends with which particular rendition they remembered the most.
She inspired her friends to do things they never thought possible, was the best empathetic listener you had ever met - who never broke eye contact from her book or noticed a fallen ash from her cigarette.

Her children wish she could have been around to see grandchildren and tell them tall tales of family traditions real or embellished, but in the end, she had some pretty awesome grand-dogs.

She wished her epitaph to be: "Throwing caution to the wind, she up and left."

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Carroll Ragan and is survived by her husband, Arafat Deek; her stepchildren; her sisters Susan, Regina, Carol, Wendy, Samantha and their families; her brothers Richard and Malcolm; her paternal cousin Ann Ragan; many maternal cousins; and especially her cherished children Jessa Ragan Byrne (Dillon Joiner) and Christopher Ragan Byrne (Lahra Meusel Byrne).

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service and Cremation Care Center. Family and friends may send memories or condolences to the family, online at www.schaudtfuneralservice.com.
