Margaret Mcelhaney Younger

August 22, 1931 — April 8, 2021

Margaret Anna McElhaney Younger, age 89, passed away on April 8, 2021 at her home in Broken Arrow, OK.

For those family and friends that knew her, they knew she was one of a kind with a heart of gold. She was a Mama Bear. A single mom that raised two children and gave every nickel to make sure they both got a college education. She loved her family and was caregiver to her parents and oldest sister during their later years. She was called Aunt Margie by most of the family.

She loved traveling, the beach and the lake, boating, camping, family, friends, all football especially her beloved OU Sooners, cooking, reading, crossword puzzles and roller skating in her youth.

Margaret was born in Shawnee, OK the fourth of eight children to Otis Edward McElhaney and Gladys Francis Carter McElhaney. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, two brothers Lee Roy McElhaney and John Richard McElhaney, and two sisters Glynn Dean Spangenberg, and Patsy Stem.

She is survived by her daughter, Anita Younger, son Mark Younger and his wife Debra Marks Younger, grandchildren Zachary Younger and Kaitlyn Younger, brothers Otis McElhaney, Jr, and Robert (Bob) McElhaney, sister-in-law Donna Heilig McElhaney, and sister Wanda Beattie, a host of special nieces and nephews, a dear friend, Kathey Stephens, whom she loved like a daughter, beloved friends Cindee Saintsing Bridges and Wendee Saintsing of NC, and Alma Salas and Virginia Nicholson of TX.

Her wish was to be cremated and her ashes spread in 2 of her favorite places on earth - Lake Tenkiller and Ireland.

A come-and-go casual Life Celebration will be held on April 17, 2021 from 2:00-5:00 pm at her family home in Broken Arrow, OK.
