Lucy M Sims

Lucy Sims, a longtime resident of Hanna, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2012 just two weeks shy of her 100th birthday. Lucy was born on January 22, 1912 in Hanna, Oklahoma to George and Katie Martin. She was united in marriage to Leonard Sims on January 2, 1938. Their marriage lasted 65 years until his death in 2003. Lucy attended college at Central State College where she received her teaching certificate. She taught school for a few years before starting to work at the post office. She soon became post master, a post she held until she retired in 1977. After her retirement, she pursued her love of arts, crafts, and antiques, running a little store in Hanna with Leonard. She is survived by her three daughters and their husbands: Linda and Lester Crider of Kansas City, Kansas; Mary and Jim Hall of Edmond, Oklahoma; and Dixie and Jerry Bolen of Earlsboro, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren and spouses: Clarinda and David Lollar, Joel and Sandy Crider, Mike and Andrea Hall, Martin Hall, Matt and Kim Hall, Christopher Parks, Brian Parks, Sarah and Khun Srisathit; 14 great grandchildren, and several beloved nieces and nephews, as well as many other relatives and friends. Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by her brother James Martin and her sister Thelma Spillers. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Henryetta from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 10:00am at the Hanna Cemetery with Doyle Loveland officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Mike Hall, Martin Hall, Matt Hall, Joel Crider, Brian Parks, Christopher Parks, Khun Srisathit and David Lollar.
