Louis Albert "Al" Tomassi

Louis Albert Tomassi. Albert was born January 29, 1931 Philadelphia, PA to Louis Albert Tomassi, Sr. and Lydia Wakefield Blaisse. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 2, 2016 Tulsa, OK after a long illness. He attended multiple schools prior to graduating from Upper Darby Senior High School in Drexel Hills, Pennsylvania. Albert attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri prior to moving to Tulsa and graduating from The University of Tulsa in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Marketing with a minor in Management.

Albert fell in love with and married Delores Jean Hockett on October 5, 1956. They have three children: Dorothy Ann King; David Albert Tomassi; and Deborah Jean Platter. Dorothy married Cris King and has a son, Matthew Logan King. Debbie married Jeff Platter and has two daughters, Alexandria Christian Platter and Kennedy Faith Platter.
Albert proudly served his country in the Korean War as a member of the Oklahoma National Guard where he was assigned to the 10th Infantry Division at Ft. Riley, Kansas and then assigned to the 434 Engineer Battalion in Pusan, Korea. Albert also attended Engineer Construction School in Eta Jima, Japan before being honorably discharged in 1955 as a U.S. Army Sergeant First Class.

Upon his discharge, he began working with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma in the Computer Services Department and retired in 1987 after 31 years of dedicated service.
Albert was an active member of Yale Avenue Presbyterian Church serving as an Elder, Deacon and Trustee. He volunteered with Boy Scouts of America as an adult leader for over 35 years and was a Cub Master for Pack 6 at Franklin Elementary School in Tulsa. He received the Cub Master’s Key, District Award of Merit and District Medallion of Merit, Silver Beaver. He frequently made trips with his family to Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. In addition to the Boy Scouts, he also volunteered with Camp Fire Girls on the Board of Directors and the Camping Committee. He received the Farnsworth, Sabago and Gulick Awards. Albert was a member and Board President for the Group Service Employee’s Credit Union; a member of the Association of Systems Management since 1964 and received the Chapter Award of Merit and National Merit Award and was a Certified Systems Professional. Albert also donated his time to Call Rape (DVIS), Neighbor for Neighbor, and VITA preparing free tax returns. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 577 and the American Legion, Post #1.
Albert had a philosophy regarding volunteering – “We need to pay rent for the space God provides us.”

He was a man of Faith and strongly believed in God and Country. During his lifetime, he touched many individuals and will be greatly missed. However, God has gained another Angel and Albert is with his Father in Heaven so we rejoice.
