Loretta Mae Green

April 22, 1936 — February 8, 2012

Loretta Green, 75, arrived at her eternal home on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012 after a short illness. She was born in her family home in rural Pawnee Co., OK on April 22, 1936 to Thelma and Charles Rust. She attended Stillwater schools, graduating in 1954. Her mission was to be a nurse, graduating as a registered nurse (RN) from the Oklahoma Baptist School of Nursing in 1957. She served in hospitals in Prior and Tulsa, OK, Craig and Pueblo, CO, Joinkrama and Eku, Nigeria, and Nalerigu, Ghana, where she also ran the pharmacy. Her calling was by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to serve on the mission field in West Africa, she answered the call with her husband of 53 years, Urban Green. They were married on Oct. 24, 1958 and appointed by the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board in 1963 to serve in Nigeria and later Ghana. She served in medical missions in hospitals, in public health, and tended countless refugees during the Nigerian Civil War from 1967-69. Her passion was her family, starting with sons Bryan (Laura) and Bruce (Ruth), grandchildren Kyle (Ashley), Kevin (Ashley), Kellisha, Brittany, Brandon, Brady. Great grandchildren Carter, Canton and Avery. She loved her extend family, sisters Rozella (Ernie) Bays, Charlotte (Don) Garrison, Louella Hall, brothers Don (Barbara) Rust and Dale (Sharon) Rust, in-laws Ramona and Gene Price, Erlis and Sue Green, Jimmy Green, W.J. Green and many nieces and nephews, some who called her grandma. She was blessed with great friends from nursing school and many brothers and sisters in Christ who served with her on the mission field. She loved family reunions, and is having one in heaven with parents Thelma and Charles, in-laws Mersa and Arthur Green, brothers Don and Dale, in-laws Jimmy, W.J. and Barbara, nieces Glenda and Debbie, and nephews Wilber and Donnie. And also her lifelong friend from nursing school Bertha Kordis. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lottie Moon Missions Offering through First Baptist Church, Glenpool, OK. Arrangements were entrusted to Daniel C. Schaudt of Schaudt's Glenpool Funeral Service & Cremation Care.
