Kathryn "Katie" Cairns Whitmore

October 23, 1940 — January 9, 2023

Kathryn Cairns Whitmore (Katie) passed away at her home, in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Monday, January 9, 2023. She was surrounded by family.

She is survived by her daughter and grandchildren, Kathy, Amanda, and Angie; son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Shannon; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Whitney Howland; sister-in-law Mary Wynne Watkins; and many nieces and nephews.

Katie grew up in Indiana and later outside Chicago where she graduated from Northwestern University.

In 1962, she married her best friend and soulmate, Thomas J. Whitmore. They were married for 46 years. Tom passed away 14 years ago.

She began her married life as a Navy wife.

Throughout the years, she held numerous administrative roles, of which some were to support her husband in his sales positions for several companies.

She served her church in many capacities wherever she lived. Her organizational skills were unsurpassed.

She lived her life by the teachings of Christian Science.

A deep love of the Southwest, and being on the open road, took Katie on many driving adventures.

Most of all, Katie was a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, sister and friend. She is missed by many already and her presence will always be remembered.

Always putting family first, Katie supported and encouraged each member to learn, grow, do their best in every situation, and trust in and rely on God.

Katie brought unconditional love, laughter, and joy wherever she went.

Katie requested that there be no service. Because of her love and support for young Christian Scientists, donations in her name may be sent to Cedars Camps.
