Katherine Pearl Rogers, 82, of Mounds, OK, formerly of Cleveland, OK, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

She was the widow of Robert G. Rogers, the love of her life. They were married in Hawaii on May 3, 1977 and spent 34 years side by side.

Katherine was born in Fouke, AR on November 13, 1935, daughter of the late Bertha Sanders and John H. Gunn.

Katherine worked in the insurance industry for many years. She blazed a trail for women as one of the first female independent insurance agents in Oklahoma. In 1975, she formed Metro Agency, which was later reorganized to became Commerce Agency in 1982 and at one time employed 15 people.

After her husband’s passing in 2011, Katherine enjoyed her retirement living on the ranch with her daughter and son-in-law. Together they shared the love of horses and bred and raised several winners.

Katherine loved traveling with her late husband, visiting many countries. She had many hobbies which included playing the piano, golf, bowling, needlepoint and spent many hours in her beautiful garden. As a a history buff, Katherine could recall almost anything she ever learned about history and politics.

For those who had the pleasure of knowing Katherine, you know that she was happiest in the kitchen of her home, serving the food brought comfort to those she loved. To her, food was a love language that spoke to all and she took great pride in caring for her family.

Katherine loved the lord and was a member of St James Methodist Church. One of her favorite pastimes was playing hymns that she grew up with from childhood on her beautiful piano, which was a gift from her husband, Bob.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers; Henry Bates, Eugene Bearden and Robert Bearden.

Katherine is survived by her brother James Bates,daughters, Debbie Johnson and Leigh Ann Perez. Sons; George and Bernie Clegg; son-in-law Rusty Johnson, and daughter in law Sandra, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In honoring Katherines wishes, she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband in a private family service on Tuesday, December 5th in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, Katherine asked for donations to be made to Clarehouse.
