Joel Charles Fortner, 40, of Glenpool, OK passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012, in Tulsa, Ok. He was born May 7, 1971, in Fort Smith Arkansas to Charles and Becky Fortner. He started training at Spartan Aeronautics School in Tulsa, OK for his career in aviation after graduating Central High School in Sallisaw, OK. He worked 20 years in different areas of airplane mechanics and controls, the last 18 of which were at American Airlines in Tulsa. Joel was a huge fan of OSU football, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He loved coaching and supporting the softball and basketball teams his two daughters played on. He took much pride in teaching them both of his girls to hunt and enjoy the great outdoors. Joel enjoyed being together with family and friends and living life to the fullest. His fun personality was a magnet that attracted everyone to him. Joel leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife and high school sweetheart Jennifer and two daughters, Lauren and Megan all of the home. He is also survived by his mother Becky Fortner of Muldrow, OK. a sister and brother-in-law Cheryl and Mike McCabe of Glenpool, OK. Joel will also be missed by his mothers-in-law and fathers-in-law Janice and Bud Neal and Burley and Cathy Middleton, his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Julie and Ricky Belk, Logan Middleton and Miranda and Steven Goins, and his best friend forever Chris Carter, as well as a host of nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father Charles Fortner and maternal grandmother Faye Smith. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Schaudt's Funeral Service Chapel in Glenpool, OK. Services will be at 2:00p.m. Saturday, February 25th, 2012 at Faith Church in Glenpool . Pastor Matt Blair will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Mike McCabe, Ricky Belk, Chris Carter, Logan Middleton, Gary Lee Treat, Matt Hillhouse, Jay Hunter and Pat Harper. Honorary Pallbearers will be Burley Middleton, Bud Neal, Larry Sehon, Max Seefleuth, Jeff Overstreet, Matt Quickle, Wes Kirby, Jeff Overstreet, Howie McKinney, Steve Fields, Steve Campbell, Gary Bowman. Arrangements were entrusted to Daniel C. Schaudt of Schaudt's Glenpool Funeral Service & Cremation Care.
