Joe Edward Holt

Longtime Glenpool resident, Joe Holt, passed away Friday, Feb. 12th in St. John's Hospital after a short illness due to complications of a staph infection.
Joe was born on Dec. 21st, 1948 in Claremore, Oklahoma. A Miami High School and OSU-Okmulgee graduate, Joe served 2 years active due in the US Navy and 4 years in the Naval Reserves. Joe was also a licensed plumber. Joe was a member of the First Baptist Church of Glenpool.
Joe retired in 2004 from the Glenpool Fire Department after 17 years of volunteer duty and 13 years of full time duty. Joe began his volunteer firefighter duties when he first moved to the community in 1974 and Glenpool was a small community with a population of around 500 citizens. In 1991 Joe became a full time fireman and continued to serve until June of 2004 when he retired. He was well known in the community and after retirement was often seen dropping his granddaughter off for school, then having breakfast at one of the local cafe's each morning. His contagious laugh and great sense of humor will long be remembered.
Joe is survived by his wife, Sondra, of the home, his daughter, Lori Holt and son, Michael Holt of Glenpool. He is also the proud Grandpa of Rylie Jo Holt of Glenpool.
Joe is also survived by his dad and step-mom, Jerald and Iris Holt of Claremore, his sister, Jeralyn Brittle of Quapaw and his brother, Robert Holt, also of Quapaw.
Family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Schaudt's Funeral Service, 719 East 141st Street, Glenpool.
Services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 16th at 11:00 a.m. at Glenpool's First Baptist Church with Reverend Brett Allen officiating.
Joe is a member of the Quapaw Indian Tribe of Oklahoma, a native American ceremony will also be held Saturday, Feb. 20th at 10:00 a.m. at the Quapaw Tribal Building with a memorial lunch to be held at 12:00 p.m.. All friends of the family are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Glenpool building fund.
