Jo Ann Bledsoe

January 15, 1935 — December 24, 2020

JoAnn Bledsoe passed away on Dec. 24th, 2020, with her two daughters next to her, singing her favorite hymns and Christmas songs. She was 85 years old.

She was born to her parents, Lloyd and Bonnie Cone on January 15, 1935 in Charleston, Arkansas. Her mother, Bonnie became extremely ill from cancer. Jody helped care for her mother at home until she passed away when Jody was just 13 years old and her little brother David, was just three.

When she was 14, Jody went to stay with her aunt in Modesto, CA. It was at this time, that she met the love of her life, Tom Bledsoe. While Tom was in the Navy, he was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii and when Jody turned 18, she boarded a ship without family or friends and sailed to Honolulu. There she and Tom married on August 1st, 1953 and lived in Honolulu for the first months of their married life.

Jody was a great seamstress and she enjoyed making clothes for herself and their two daughters. While Tom was away at sea for six months at a time, Jody held down the fort here in the states, being mother and father to their two daughters. As the wife of a 20 year military man, she moved many times. Then as the wife of a Southern Baptist Pastor she followed Tom to churches in Texas and Oklahoma and loved ministering alongside him wherever he went.

Jody and Tom loved travelling throughout the U.S. and their favorite “dream” trip was going to The Holy Land.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Tom Bledsoe, her mother, Bonnie VanMeter Cone, her father, Lloyd Cone and their granddaughter, Rebekah Jamieson.

She leaves behind her daughter, Vickii Irons of Broken Arrow, OK and daughter Christine Jamieson of Conway, AR., her brother, David Cone of Sachse, TX, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, along with many other family and friends.
