Jeannie Lynn McDaniel of Henryetta, Oklahoma was born to parents Alfred and Mary Harjo on November 3, 1955, in Claremore, Oklahoma. She was a full-blooded member of the Muscogee Creek Nation, of which she was very proud. She passed away on September 26, 2020, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 64 surrounded by her loving family.

She grew up in Okemah during the early years of her life. She was raised by her grandma “Momma” Annie Miller (Harjo) whom she loved dearly and spoke about often. She attended a boarding school in Ponca City and attended Roosevelt Jr. High afterwards. She went on to attend Central High School up until her tenth-grade year. During her years working, Jeannie worked for Time Mark where they made timers as well as Hilti where she worked on the assembly line. Jeannie was a vibrant person to say the least. She was a lively woman who loved fishing, music, coloring, and spending time with her grandchildren. She had a heart full of compassion and was willing to help anyone in need. Jeannie enjoyed cooking for her family and one of her specialties was fry bread.

Jeannie was not shy about her love for Jesus Christ and all that He had done for her during her life. She enjoyed reading her Bible and going to church with her daughter, Samantha. She enjoyed Sunday lunches with the family after church, especially the good conversation that went with it. She was never shy about jumping in and cleaning the kitchen, that was how she liked to contribute.

It would not be right to not mention her love of music! Her taste in music was exquisite! She loved almost every genre of music. Some musicians and bands she loved were Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Black Crowes, George Strait, Shania Twain, Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, The Supremes, Corrine Bailey Rae, and Macy Gray, just to name a few.

She is preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Mary Harjo. Siblings include Tommy Frank, Geraldine Frank, Henry Frank, Frankie Harjo, and Jimmie Harjo.
