James Leo Richardson

James Leo Richardson 90, of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, August 25, 2019 at Highland Park Healthcare in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

Leo was born in Oklahoma City, OK November 9th, 1928 to Benjamin Franklin and Annie May Mackey Richardson. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Beverly June Briggs Richardson, and three brothers; Reford Richardson, Howard Richardson, and Duward Richardson.

He is survived by a daughter, Anna Lenora Volz of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; two sons, Lieutenant Colonel Retired James Duward Richardson (wife Claudia) of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; Timothy Leo Richardson (wife Connie) of Pauls Valley Oklahoma, 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Leo and his wife Beverly were married on January 13, 1950 in Oklahoma City and moved to Pauls Valley with their three children in 1958. A longtime employee of Bill Story Fire and Safety Supply of Oklahoma City, Leo traveled a large area and still found time to serve with their church, Valley Christian as a deacon, elder, and a young men’s Bible Study teacher, and dedicated Gideon in the surrounding community. Leo was very active and served several offices in both Pauls Valley’s and Wynnewood’s Masonic Lodges. Before moving to Okmulgee, Oklahoma for health reasons, he enjoyed his many friends at Pauls Valley Senior Citizens and could be found there most days for lunch.

Leo left a legacy of Christian family and community service with his children and cherished family time.

A graveside service is scheduled for Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 10:00 at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Pauls Valley, with Gerald Biswell of Beaty Baptist Church officiating. ­­
