James Gregory Meehan

February 20, 1956 — May 25, 2020

A funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of James Gregory Meehan will be 11:00AM Friday, May 29, 2020 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa. The family will receive friends the evening prior from 5:00~8:00PM at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service. Greg was 64 years old and passed from this life in the early morning hours of Monday, May 25th, 2020 at the Clarehouse in Tulsa. He will be remembered for being a gentle, kind soul who would do anything for anyone and be happy to do it.

Greg was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on February 20, 1956 to his parents, Arthur and Betty (Nubemyer) Meehan. He attended Nathan Hale High School, graduated in 1974 and went on to graduate from Okmulgee Tech with an associate’s degree in Heating and Air Conditioning.

He worked at the solar lab at the University of Tulsa, Industrial Fabricating and Spartan Aeronautics before going to work at American Airlines where he retired after 27 years as a stationary engineer in the boiler room. Greg had many interests. His main passion was cars. He tinkered, fiddled and on occasion fixed multiple cars for himself, family and friends over the years. He collected classic cars and still owns the 1956 Chevy and 1964 Corvette that his dad owned.

Greg built model cars and airplanes when he was younger. There were WWII vintage airplane models tacked to the ceiling of his and his brother Sean’s bedroom.

While working for American Airlines, Greg became interested in flying, and he went to Florida to take a ride in one of NASCAR team owner Jack Roush’s North American Aviation P-51 Mustangs and was thrilled to meet Jack himself. Jack graciously signed the photo of his plane that Greg took.

Greg’s photography mostly covered car shows. This explains why there are so few photos of him.

He loved rescuing dogs. His favorite dog, Kris, will be joining him on his journey.

He was a gun enthusiast. He built, bought and sold a variety of guns and rifles. Some of his collection will be featured at a pawnshop near you. Stand by for details.

He was a good cook (messy but good.)

He was a good son and took care of the maintenance of his parents home and pool when they got older. He deserves much more credit than he ever got for the care he took of them.

Married Nov 1998 to Karen, his wife of 21 years she survives him along with his stepson, Kenny Watkins 37 and a daughter, Sydni, 29.
