Jackie Vern Wooters

Jackie Vern Wooters entered eternal rest on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at the age of 86 in Middleburg, Florida.

Jack was born on March 8, 1935, to Birdie Eileen (Peoples) Wooters and Walter Burdette Wooters in Centralia, Illinois. He married Elsie Willine (Brannum) Wooters on October 24, 1957, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Jack was a Chief Petty Officer MMC in the United States Navy for 20 years. During his time in the Navy, he made two world cruises aboard ship and spent over 4,000 days at sea. Jack and his family moved a lot during his enlistment, from Illinois, Virginia, Florida, to California. After leaving the Navy, he worked as a mechanic. Jack loved to take his children camping and fishing as they were growing up. When he moved to Florida, he would take his brother Jim out fishing for crappie and bluegill. One of the hobbies he enjoyed was watching old westerns and NASCAR. He was a big fan of Jeff Gordon and Chase Elliott, and everyone knew not to interrupt him while he was watching his favorites. Jack was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He also, attended the Middleburg Church of God. Over the last five years his niece, Debbie Brown, moved to Florida to help care for Jack and Willine before their passing. The family is grateful for all her help.

Jack is preceded in death by his wife; Willine Wooters, his parents; Birdie and Walter Wooters, his sister Rose Ellen Mattka and her husband Gus; his brother, Jim Wooters; brothers-in-law; Roger Sladek, Kenneth Delaney, and Shorty Sill; and two great-grandchildren; Caryssa and Michael.

He is survived by his children; Kim Hitchew and husband Larry, Kevin Wooters and wife Lisa, grandchildren; Amanda Howard and husband Jay, Nick Wooters, Christina Harper, Brandi Starsinic and husband Dan, Ryan Hitchew, great-grandchildren; Emma Howard, Evan Howard, sisters; Shelby Sladek, Barbara Delaney, Ruth Ann Robinson and husband Dan, Patty Davis and husband Stanley, Peggy Holloman and husband Lonnie, Shirley Sill, Vickie Brubaker and husband Tom; sister-in-law, Angela Wooters and other loving family and friends.

A public viewing will be held from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Monday, August 16, 2021, at Schaudt's Glenpool Funeral Chapel, 719 E. 141st Street, Glenpool, OK 74033.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery, 1423 Cemetery Road, Fort Gibson, OK 74434
