Jw "Jay" Orr, Jr.

February 20, 1940 — April 22, 2021

J W Orr, Jr. was 81 years young and resided in Sapulpa, OK. He went Home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 22, 2021, after a long, hard-fought battle with Parkinsons.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sandy Orr, his three daughters Laurie (Tom) Jorgensen of Kansas City, KS; Tracy (Brady) Born of Sapulpa, OK; and Jenny (LeRoy) Twisdale of Texarkana, TX, grandchildren: Kylie Jorgensen, Zeke and Braden Born, and Parker and Hudson Twisdale; his favorite nephew, Mike (Cathie) Sheppard, and sister-in-law MaryAnn (David) Kirkpatrick.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents James Michael and Myrta Roberson, George W. and Mattie Orr; his parents, J W and Alene Orr; siblings, Nilla Kathryn and Sonny Boy Orr, and Bonnie Jo Sheppard; and niece, Monica Averill.

Jay had a witty sense of humor and love for people which laid the foundation for his successful careers in ministry and Christian education. He never met a stranger, and everywhere he went there was somebody who knew him. He was a hard worker, very driven and could sell ice cubes to an Eskimo. He was a proud Okie from Muskogee, graduating from Central High School. He went on to Oklahoma Baptist University, and finished his education with a Masters degree from Western Kentucky University.

Although his very first job was selling peanuts at the ballpark at age 9, after college he started out in insurance. After ranching with Sandy's family for several years, he surrendered to the ministry, which became his passion. The colleges he served at include: Hannibal LaGrange College, Campbellsville College, East Texas Baptist University and Brewton-Parker College. His pastorates include: Dover Baptist Church, Forsyth Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Palatine, as well as many interim pastorates while working for the colleges and during retirement.

In his retirement, he spent his days enjoying time with his "beautiful bride" and playing many, many rounds of golf.

Jay's first love was his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, closely followed by his wife and family, and of course, OU football. Boomer!

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Parkinson Research Foundation and John 3:16 Mission in Tulsa.
