Hilda Leyva Quezada

Hilda Leyva Quezada nació el 7 de julio de 1965 en Las Varas Babicora, Chihuahua, Mexico y falleció el lunes, 22 de agosto de 2022 en Tulsa, Oklahoma a los 57 años de edad. Fue precedida en muerte porsus padres, esposo y dos hijitas que murieron en su infancia.

Hilda fue la mayor de 9 hijos de Agustin Quezada Ortiz y Maria de Luz Montes Cordero de Quezada. Ella creció junto con sus hermanos en Neuvo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico. A temprana edad, como de 14 o 15 años, Hilda tuvo que abandoner su estudio por irse a trabajar para ayudar a su familia. Ella trabajo en una tienda donde fue cajera.

A los 18 años ella se casó con Luis Villa de Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua y ellos tuvieron 5 hijos; Luis David Leyva, Lorenzo Ivan Leyva, Griselda Yvonne Leyva y las dos niñas que fallecieron, Candelaria y Hilda Villa Quezada.

Cuando Hilda se encontro sola con sus hijos, a la edad de 30 años desidio venirse para los Estados Unidos con su hija, Griselda. Llegaron a Phoenix, Arizona en octubre de 1995, donde ella trabajo para ayudarle a su familia. Trabajando en restaurantes y cuidando niños, Hilda con el tiempo logró poder traerse a todos sus hijos a los Estados Unidos y siguió ayudandole a sus padres.

Estando en Phoenix, Arizona, Hilda conoció a Jesus Manuel Leyva Romero por medio de su hermana y cuñado. Ellos se casaron el 14 de febrero de 1997. Vivieron varios años en Phoenix, donde les nacio su hijo, Jesus Manuel Leyva Quezada en diciembre del 1996. En Agosto del 2009, toda la familia se movió a Sapulpa, Oklahoma en donde Jesus Leyva tenía familia y trabajo. Trágicamente, a los 9 meses de haber llegado, Jesus Manuel murió en un accidente de trabajo.

Hilda tenía fe en Dios y en Jesucristo desde temprana edad. Apesar de sus dificultades y tragedias de su vida, Hilda siguio confiando y agarrada de la mano de Dios. Aun, cuando los medicos le dijeron que tenía 6 a 12 meses para vivir, ella les declaro a los doctores que, "Dios tenia la ultima palabra y El la iba cuidar por mas tiempo!" Asi fue, para la honra y gloria a Dios, Hilda vivió por 3 años mas! Hilda estuvo muy agradecida con Dios por haberle extendido su vida. Es por eso, que unos de sus cantos favoritos fue, "Te Doy Gracias."

Atravez de su vida, Hilda fue una persona muy dadivosa, aunque ella no tuviera mucho, ella daba a otros sin esperar nada de ellos. Con sus hermanos, fue como una madre, siempre cuidaba de ellos y tambien fue muy alegre y cariñosa. Era muy social, siempre llamando a todos por telefono. Y con sus 8 nietecitos, fue una abuelita muy amorosa, para ella, cada uno de sus nietos, eran muy especial.

Hilda amo el hecho de ser madre y abuela y poder cuidar de su familia, apesar de su condición de salud. A ella le encantaba cantar, cocinar, hornear y tejer. Aun, despues de su amputación, mantuvo su sentido de humor. Bromiaba con los nietos que ella hiba a correr con su silla de ruedas y los iba alcansar!

Para su familia y todos aquellos que la conocian, Hilda sera recordada como una mujer guerrera, que luchó por su familia y nunca perdió la fe. Tambien la recordaran por su amor a Dios, que fue muy evidente apesar de su condición de salud. Recordaremos el deseo de Hilda para su familia, que fue que al partir ella, su familia permanecieran unidos, amandose y apoyandose unos a otros y manteniendose en comunicación, tal y como ella lo hubiese hecho.

Hilda Leyva Quezada was born on July 7, 1965 in Las Varas Babicora, Chihuahua, Mexico and passed away on Monday, August 22nd, 2022 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 57. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, husband and two baby girls that died in infancy.

Hilda was the oldest of 9 children of Agustin Quezada Ortiz and Maria de Luz Montes Cordero de Quezada. She grew up with her siblings in Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico. At an early age of 14 or 15, Hilda had to leave school to go work to help support her family. She worked at a store where she was a cashier.

At 18 years of age, she married Luis Villa of Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua and they had 5 children; Luis David Leyva, Lorenzo Ivan Leyva, Griselda Yvonne Leyva and the two baby girls that passed away, Candelaria and Hilda Villa Quezada.

When Hilda found herself alone with her children, at the age of 30, she decided to move to the United States with her daughter Griselda. They arrived in Phoenix, Arizona in October of 1995, where she worked to help support her family. Working in restaurants and caring for children, Hilda was able to earn enough to bring all her children to the United States and continued helping her parents.

While living in Phoenix, Arizona, Hilda met Jesus Manuel Leyva Romero through her sister and brother-in-law. They were married on February 14th, 1997. They lived there several years, where their son, Jesus Manuel Leyva Quezada was born in December of 1996. In August of 2009, the entire family moved to Sapulpa, Oklahoma where Jesus Leyva had family and work. Tragically, 9 months after arriving, Jesus Manuel died in a job-related accident.

Hilda had faith in God and in Jesus Christ from a very young age. In spite of her difficulties and tragedies in her life, Hilda continued trusting and holding on to the hand of God. Even when the doctors told her she had 6-12 months to live, she declared to the doctors, "God has the las word and He will take care of me for a longer time!" And so it was, and to the honor and glory to God, Hilda lived for 3 more years! Hilda was very grateful to God for extending her life. For that reason, one of her favorite songs was, "I Give You Thanks."

Throughout her life, Hilda was a very giving person, even if she did not have much, she would give to others, expecting nothing in return. With her siblings, she was like a mother to them, always looking after them and she was also very happy and loving. She was very sociable, always calling others on the phone. With her 8 grandchildren, she was a very loving grandmother; to her, each of her grandchildren were very special.

Hilda loved being a mother and grandmother and being able to care for her family, in spite of her health. She loved to sing, cook, bake and knit. In fact, even after her amputation, she maintained her sense of humor. She would joke around with the grandchildren, telling them she was going to race them in her wheelchair and catch up to them!

Hilda will be remembered by her family and all those who knew her as a warrior who fought for her family, and never lost her faith. She will also be remembered for her love for God, which was evident in spite of her health. Her desire for her family will also be remembered; that upon her passing, her family would remain united, would love and support each other and maintain the communication, just as she would have done.
