Gordon Douglas Fallis

Gordon Douglas Fallis passed away peacefully with family by his side at Clarehouse, April 12, 2019.

Gordon was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on February 26, 1924 to William Henry and Jean Cassel (Moffat) Fallis. After graduating from college, Gordon moved to the states and began his career in journalism in Dayton, Ohio. He then landed in St. Joseph, MO. where he met a young reporter at the Gazette, Mary Margaret Gaynor, who became the love of his life. After they were married Gordon accepted a job at the Tulsa Tribune and they moved to Tulsa.

The Tulsa Tribune first hired Gordon as a copy editor, was later named City Editor and retired as the Managing Editor.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Don Fallis, and his wife Mary Margaret. He is survived by their five children Lynn Peterson (Rick), Nancy Fallis Davis, Mark Fallis (Laura), Dean Fallis (Kandi) and Keith Fallis.

Gordon had a wonderful relationship with all of his grandchildren, Brian Peterson (Yasuko), Brad Peterson, Amelia Peterson (Javier Troncoso), Tim Peterson, CareyAnn Peterson Thomas (Corey), Michael Harvey (Leanna), Greg Fallis, Wes Fallis (Ali), Jeremy Fallis, Katy Fallis, Kimberly Whitham (Seth), Kelsey Fallis and Kara Fallis.

Gordon was especially proud of his great-grandchildren, Zoe Peterson, Apollo Peterson, Ellie Troncoso, Sebastian Troncoso, Lauren Harvey, Abby Harvey, Ben Fallis, Emily Fallis and Lucas Fallis.

A celebration of his life will be held in the Garden of Resurrection at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 4200 South Atlanta Place on Friday, April 19th at 3:00 pm. Internment will be in the Columbarium at St. John’s.

The family would like to express their gratitude and love to “Daddy’s Angels”, Lori, Heather, Kaitlin and Lexi and everyone at Seasons Hospice. They would also like to thank the staff and all the volunteers at Clarehouse and in lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Clarehouse.
