Gary Shelton Snider

December 10, 1941 — January 20, 2022

Gary Shelton Snider passed away with loving family by his side Thursday evening, January 20, 2022, at the age of 80 years.
He was born at home on the family farm on Wednesday, December 10, 1941 in Bixby, OK to his parents, Robert and Dessie (Shepard) Snider.

Gary spent his elementary and junior high school years attending Jenks Public School; he then transferred to Sapulpa where he completed freshman thru senior year at Sapulpa High School, Sapulpa, Oklahoma.

Gary proudly served our country in the United States Army beginning on August 9, 1962. His time in the Army took him from Fort Leonard Wood, MO. for his Basic Training to Fairchild AFB, WA and then to the
US Army Hospital at Fort Chaffee, AR. as part of the Medical Admission and Liaison Detachment. He even spent some time at Fort Clayton, a United States Army base in the former Panama Canal Zone and at Gorgas Hospital, In Panama City, Panama.

After serving in the Army, Gary spent 19 years as an insurance agent and 18 years as food marketing industry as a rep.

He was married to Helen Mae Seavey on September 26th, 1986. They celebrated 32 years of marriage until her death December 23, 2018.

Gary and Helen were members of Patriot Guard Riders (PGR). A number of times Gary has shared the history of our service flags to schools and churches. Gary and Helen started in 2010 a fight for and supporting a group of soldiers who were serving time at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

Gary was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, a worldwide Motorcycle association group. While Gary had not rode much in the past few years, he did enjoy riding his motorcycles.
Gary was a long time member of The American Legion - Post 0308.

He is preceded in death by father, Robert Snider; mother, Dessie Snider; brother, Raymond Snider; and wife Helen.

Gary leaves many loving memories with his family, daughter Brandy and husband Brandon McCombs; daughter Deborah and husband Tim Conner; daughter Paula and husband Craig Ronning; daughter Jodell and husband Stan Nelson; sister Alice and husband Clifton Bass; brother Ed and wife Paula Snider; brother Ricky Snider; Grandchildren: Sidney, Christian, Kolby, Cooper, Cayden, Korbin, Jordan, Matthew, Laci, Samantha, Roxann, and Melissa. Great-Grandchildren: Sonnet, Alula, Harper, Liam, Isabel, Lucas, Jax, Brooke, Nell, Josephine, Kadence, Vanessa, Evelyn, Vivian; many nieces and nephews, numerous cousins along with many other loving relatives and a host of friends.

In following Gary's wishes, he was cremated. He will be inurned at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery with military honors at a later date.

Committal service will be held at the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery Committal Shelter. Ft. Sill Honor Guard will be providing Military Honors. Patriot Guard Riders will be escorting Gary & his family to Ft. Gibson National Cemetery
