Gary Allen Plummer

July 30, 1939 — March 1, 2020

Gary Allen Plummer, an Owasso icon, died at his home, Sunday, March 1, 2020, with family by his side, at the age of 80. Gary was born July 30, 1939, in Los Angeles, CA to his parents, Maynard and Ava Irene (Black) Plummer.

While attending school in Seneca, MO, a pretty brown haired girl named Geraldine caught his eye and Gary was instantly smitten. He knew he had met the love of his life, Geraldine. After graduating high school, they were married on May 22, 1957, in Seneca, MO on his grandfather’s farm.

Gary and Geraldine moved to the small community of Owasso, while Gary worked for Rockwell throughout the 1960s. However, in the early 1970s Gary began his career as a small business owner in Owasso. He opened the convenience store Mity Mart. It was a success. A short time later he introduced Owassoans to the sugary, sweet delicacy craved by young and old, when he opened Owasso’s first doughnut shop, Daylight Donuts. Gary soon expanded his empire and owned the RamShack, a burger joint, and then in the early 1980s opened La Casita’s aka Gary’s Place, which he ran until his retirement around 2003. Gary was a member of First Church of Owasso.

Gary loved sweets, especially cherry pie, but his favorite go to dessert was ice cream. He was a hard working man; however, he had many hobbies.... golfing, gardening, going to the lake, traveling with his family, either on a cruise or in the RV. One of their favorite places was Colorado. He enjoyed listening to country music, especially Vern Gosden. Gary was a sentimental people person with a huge heart, enjoyed visiting with people and making them laugh. He was always up for an adventure, teaching each of his daughters how to drive. Gary was a devoted family man, encouraged his daughters to set their goals high and cheered them on the entire way. He was their superhero.

He is preceded in death by Maynard Plummer (Father), Ava Irene Plummer (Mother), Mike Plummer (Brother), Bill Walls (Brother), Glen Walls (Brother), Betty Jo Wescott (Sister), and Joe Walls (Brother).

Gary leaves many loving memories to be cherished by his family, Geraldine Plummer - wife, of Owasso, Kristi (David) Minton - daughter, Deana (Terry) Klarich - daughter, Rhonda Boback - daughter, Ron Walls - brother, grandchildren, Shondi (Kayla) Pugh, Ryan (Malinda) Minton, Mike (Caitlin) Minton, and great-granddaughter, Macyn, as well as many other loving relatives and a host of friends. Gary is now resting in the arms of his loving Heavenly Father. He was loved by so many and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
