Evelyn Lewis

Evelyn Lewis age 90 passed away August 25, 2009 at Woodland View Care & Rehabilitation Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Evelyn was born in Slocum, Texas on March 12, 1919 to Gilbert R. Day and Cora (Betsill) Day. She moved to Brownfield, Texas in 1924 and graduated from Union High School. She also attended college for two years. Evelyn married R. L. Lewis on December 2, 1944 in Brownfield, Texas. She worked as a bookkeeper for J. B. Knight Hardware and Furniture Store besides helping her husband farm.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents: Gilbert and Cora Day; her husband: R. L. Lewis (11-29-1981) and her son: Randy Lewis in 1990. She is survived by her brothers: Victor Day and his wife, Suzy of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Glen Day and his wife, Joy of Plainview, Texas; his sister: Oleta Richardson of Canyon, Texas along with many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will take place Friday, August 28, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Terry County Memorial Cemetery in Brownfield, Texas.
