Emilio Mireles

Emilio Mireles, "Big Tex", age 82, passed peacefully at his home in Broken Arrow, OK with his loving
family by his side on June 14, 2021.

Emilio was born on August 22, 1938 to Eulogia (Garcia) Mireles and Ernesto Mireles in Montemorelos, Nuevo León, Mexico. His family came to the United States when he was a young boy. He married Anita (Hernandez) Mireles on February 22, 1958 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Parish in Weslaco, TX. Together they had seven children; Mary Lou, Emilio Jr, Gloria, Roberto, Lisa, Raynaldo and Ramon. Emilio worked hard to provide for his family at Harvard Industries, where he worked for over 30 years before retiring in 1994. He was very good at working with his hands and was a self taught "shade auto mechanic and master electrician", he could repair almost anything. His favorite past time was spending time with family, as he was an adored grandpa or in his native language, "Abuelo."

He is preceded in death by a son Roberto Mireles; a son-in-law Kevin Messenger; his parents; Eulogia and Ernesto Mireles, siblings; Lupe Carmona, Anastacio Mireles, Jose Mireles, Juan Mireles, Rodolfo Mireles, and Ricardo Mireles.

Emilio is survived by his wife, Anita of the home; children; Mary Lou Messenger, Emilio (Robin) Míreles, Gloria (Desmond) George, Lisa (Alonzo) Robinson, Raynaldo (Missy) Míreles, Ramón (Cherish) Mireles , siblings; Mary Sandoval, David Mireles, Andres Mireles, Emma Ortiz, and Ernesto Mireles, 20 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside service to be held on June 23, 2021 at 11:00AM at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco, TX.
