Eldridge O. Hicks

Eldridge O. Hicks was born February 28, 1926 in Texas County, Missouri. He passed away Friday, February 6, 2015 in Tulsa. He was a retired mechanic for American Airlines where he was employed for 25 years. Eldridge graduated from high school in Summersville, Missouri and received his public elementary teaching certificate shortly thereafter. He was then drafted into the U.S. Army and served his country honorably during World War II. After his discharge from the Army, he moved back to Missouri and graduated from Central Radio and Television School. Eldridge operated a TV repair shop in St. Louis, Missouri. He then pursued a career as a mechanic at McDonnell Douglas and later moved to Tulsa to work for American Airlines.

Eldridge married his wife Sally on May 27, 1972. They were members of both St. Peter and Paul as well as St. Bernard's Parish in Tulsa. They were very active in Parents Without Partners (PWP) together. Eldridge was a past PWP President. He was also very involved in the athletic program in the Catoosa school system where he was once named an honorary coach. Eldridge will be missed by many friends and family for whom cared for him deeply.

Eldridge was preceded in death by his parents: James Ray and Arla Stewart; his son James Farmer; his father and mother in-law Kenneth and Loma Snyder; his brother-in-laws: Gary Snyder and Harold Murfin; his sister-in-law: Sherrie Stewart; 1 grandchild and 1 great-grandchild. He is survived by his wife: Sally Hicks; his sons: Eldridge Eugene Hicks and his wife Sharon, Gary Hicks, Ronald Hicks and his wife Vada, Blaine Farmer and his wife Vickie, and Kenneth Hicks and his wife Natalie; his daughters: Irene Farmer, Sherrie Johnson and her husband David, Alice Pitts, Kris Wilson and her husband Tim; and son-in-law: Thom Pitts; 22 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; and his siblings: Gerald Stewart, Clyde Stewart, and Carol Murfin.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM Sunday and a rosary is scheduled for 7PM Sunday both at Schaudt-Teel Funeral Service at Memorial Park, 5757 S. Memorial Drive in Tulsa.
