Edward Bertram Myers

September 17, 1936 — January 19, 2021

Edward Bertram "Bert" Myers passed away Tuesday evening January 19, 2021, at the age of 84 years.

Bert was born on September 17, 1936 in Kingston, Jamaica to his parents, Linden and Gwendolyn (Miller) Myers. He met the love of his life, Edwina "Betty" Touzalin on her 19th birthday and they married on June 2, 1962 in Kingston, Jamaica.

Bert worked at Pan American Airlines for over 20 years as chief mechanic - 3 years in Antigua and Kingston, Jamaica for 18 years. In 1977, Bert and his family moved to the States and eventually settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he worked as a Quality Assurance Auditor for American Airlines until his retirement in 2004.

Bert and Betty have been faithful members of St. Bernard's Catholic Church for the past 12 years and attended mass every Sunday. Bert lived his faith daily and it was evident in the love he showered on his family and friends. He was known affectionately by his grandkids as Pa.

Bert enjoyed many different hobbies throughout his lifetime... anything involving airplanes, he was fascinated by flight and loved flying RC planes. He had a love for music which was evident in his beautiful piano playing and he dabbled in the harmonica and accordion. Woodworking was passed down from his dad, who was a carpenter and Bert always had a diagram in place to create some of the most ingenious masterpieces, including the infamous rolling chair. He was the regular "Mr. Fix-it!" He was passionate about anything sweet, including brownies and especially ice cream. Bert or Pa adored his grandkids and the regular gatherings shared with his family.

Bert and Betty celebrated 58 years of marriage last year and he treasured his beloved wife. He could often be heard asking her ... "How are you my darling?"

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gwen and Linden and siblings, Lois and Richard.

Bert leaves many memories with his family, wife Betty Myers; sister Dorothy Pennell; daughter Patricia Myers (Douthat); son Christopher Myers; daughter Jeanie Slupski; granddaughter Brooke Lade and husband Josh; great-grandson (just arrived) Roman Bertram Lade; grandson JG Douthat; granddaughter Maria Douthat; granddaughter Sarah Myers; granddaughter Hannah Douthat; granddaughter Brittany Myers; granddaughter Abigail Myers; grandson William Douthat; granddaughter Brianna Cortes; granddaughter Brisa Cortes; along with many other loving relatives and a host of friends.

Mass will be held at noon on March 13, 2021, at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Parish with Rev. Msgr. Patrick Gaalaas & Rev. Vince Fernandez officiating.

Arrangements are entrusted to Schaudt Tulsa Funeral Service, 5757 South Memorial Drive, Tulsa OK 74145. Family and friends may leave kind words of comfort, special memories and condolences to the family online www.schaudtfuneralservices.com.
