A celebration to honor and remember the life of Dr. Jacqueline Marie Casler will be held Friday, December 15, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Nguyen officiating. Jackie passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017 with her family by her side. She was 86.

Jackie was born December 23, 1930 in Dallas, Texas to Helen Adelia (Shands) and Fred Quiggle Casler. The family relocated to Tulsa where she spent her childhood and graduated from Monte Cassino High School, class of 1948.

Jackie attended Vanderbilt University graduating with a Bachelor of Art in Spanish Literature and a dual Master of Art degree in History and Spanish Literature. She taught for several years with St. Bernard’s Catholic School, and Nashville Public Schools. Jackie saw firsthand the great need for counseling services in education, and received her Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from The University of Tennessee. She continued her education, and was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Psychology from Oklahoma State University. She was licensed to practice as a Psychologist in Oklahoma and Texas.

Before retiring, Dr. Casler owned and operated a private practice in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In previous years, she was employed as an Associate Professor of Psychology at Oklahoma State University, New Mexico State University and The University of Southern California. Jackie spent five years working for American Airlines as a flight attendant, and was an active member of the KIWI’s group of retired AA flight attendants. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, and the American Psychological Association. Jackie was of Catholic faith and recently attended St. Mary's Catholic Church of Tulsa.

She was fluent in Spanish and enjoyed speaking the language in her daily life. Jackie enjoyed water skiing, reading, traveling and being with her family. She cherished her grandkids and animals. Jackie will be remembered as an outgoing, loving person with a remarkable sense of humor. She will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Helen Adelia (Shands) Casler and Fred Quiggle Casler; granddaughter, Devon Alexis Williams; and sister, Joellen Doremus.
Survivors include daughter, Barbara Williams; two sons, George Layman and James Layman; four grandchildren, Kaleigh Layman, Nathaniel Layman, Blythe Williams, Chaz (Charles) Williams; and great-grandson, Braydon Sellers. She also leaves one sister, Juliana Casler; and eight nieces and nephews, David, Fred, Dede, Paul, Chad, Shana, Melinda, and Michelle.
