Dorothy Lou Brewer

August 9, 1928 — June 2, 2019

Dorothy Lou Brewer was the youngest daughter of Charles and Zena Ready. She was born on August 9, 1928, in Nola, Mississippi. She passed away on June 2, 2019, in Pawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 90.

She met the love of her life, Dewey Brewer and together they had four children, Michael Brewer, Kenneth Brewer, Donald Larue Brewer and Wanda Lynn Brownlee. Dorothy worked as a Department Manager at the Okmulgee Walmart, where she retired after 15 years.

Dorothy was known for being an excellent cook. If you were to come to her home, you would not be leaving without being fed or at least having a cup of coffee. Several of the things she was great at making include; turkey salad, pecan pie, and sour cream coconut cake. She loved to take care of people and was known as being a caregiver. She would also help care for others during the time she lived at Southern Oaks Care Center. She would even often tell people that she was “hired” to help take care of people at Southern Oaks. But the memory her family will cherish most is the memory of her love of reading the Bible. She would finish one version, buy a different version and the process would repeat. Dorothy loved reading different translations and was always learning while reading Gods' word.

She is preceded in death by parents; Charles and Zena Ready, husband; Dewey Brewer, sons; Kenneth Brewer and Donald Larue Brewer as well as daughter; Wanda Lynn Brownlee.

Dorothy leaves many loving memories with her son; Michael Brewer and wife, Regina. Grandchildren include; Tamara Brown and husband Jerry, Edgar Brewer and wife Amy, Chris Hatcher, Edward Hatcher and wife Kathleen, Scott Brewer and wife Vienna, Ginny McNatt and husband Michael. Also included are eighteen great grandchildren, and twelve great-great grandchildren.
