Donald Ray Baker passed away on January 1, 2018 at the age of 79, at his home in Okmulgee, Oklahoma with his loving family by his side. Donald was born on May 25, 1938 in Evansville, Indiana to the parents of Elizabeth (Yeager) and Ernist Baker. Donald married the love of his life Dianne (Talley) Baker on June 1, 1972 and spent 45 years of marriage together since. The two of them met doing what they love to do which was cook in the culinary program at Okmulgee Tech.

Donald held his love for culinary and cooking his whole life, not only was it a passion for him but it was what he spent his time doing for his job. He was a chef at many different restaurants and Okmulgee Tech where he and Dianne met. Donald not only loved to cook but he also loved our country, which he served in both the Army and the United States Marine Corps. Donald was a family man, he loved spending time with his kids, cutting up with them and as most of them would tell you he was very onery. When Donald wasn’t working he enjoyed being outside trying to catch the biggest fish, finding the best camping spots or simple just sit and watch the birds while enjoying the outdoors.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Elizabeth and Ernist Baker.

Donald is survived by his sisters; Emily Hartig and LuAnne Pierce, brothers; Robbie Yeager and Bub Yeager, children; Donald Thompson, of Kentucky, Mike Baker, of Symsonia, Kentucky, Jeff Baker, Hickory, Kentucky, Shelly Nelson, of Okmulgee, Timothy Baker, of Okmulgee, Kevin Baker, of Okmulgee, and Kimberly Baker, Anadarko, grandchildren; Holly, Jason, Bridgett, Christina, Bryanna, and Ronnie.

A celebration of life for Donald Ray Baker will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 8th, 2018 at Schaudt's Funeral Service Chapel in Okmulgee, Oklahoma with Pastor Dale Litsey officiating.
