Deann Piter

DeAnn Piter, 81 years young, passed away on June 21, 2022 at her home in Bixby, Oklahoma after battling cancer.

DeAnn was born November 12, 1940 in Tryon, Oklahoma to Kenneth and Blenda (Drake) Minshall. She was raised on the family farm North and West of Tryon and attended Tryon schools. She faithfully attended the annual alumni banquets including the one just held May 28, 2022. On December 31, 1960 she married James (Jim) Lee Piter. DeAnn and Jim were married for 50 years until his death in 2012. They raised three daughters, Beth, Sherri and Krista. DeAnn later found renewed happiness with her high school sweetheart, George Montgomery, who was with her until the end.

DeAnn's favorite place to be was on the beach reading a good book with a cold drink nearby. She loved gardening, especially her roses. She even had a rosebush named for each grandchild. DeAnn had an equal love for cooking and hosting events, so much that she helped Sherri make 300 rose garnishes for a prom one time. Jim introduced DeAnn to OSU football and it became a passion they both shared, especially tailgating and trips to bowl games. Her favorite times were those spent with her grandchildren and family: family vacations to Gulf Shores, Alabama, decorating cookies at Christmas, and Fourth of July celebrations.

DeAnn was predeceased by her husband Jim, parents Kenneth and Blenda, brother Gary, and son-in-law Jerry Shields. She is survived by her daughters Beth (Chuck) Eckert, Sherri Shields, Krista Wade, six grandchildren Jonathan (Alex) Wade, Paige (David) Scheuerman, Taylor (Chase) Barranco, Jessica, Nathan and Daniel Wade. She was especially proud to have eight great grandchildren Claire and Lilly Pidgeon, Shae, Maverick and Mason Scheuerman, Lexi and Jax Wade and Copelyn Barranco.

The family would like to thank Seasons Hospice for the kindness and compassion and special thanks to Vicki Felten, George's daughter, who was a true God-send through-out the past month.

Rosary services will be held at 7:00 pm Tuesday, June 28. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of DeAnn on Wednesday, June 29 at 10:00 am. Both services will be at St. Clement Catholic Church in Bixby, Father Jeff Polasek presiding.
