David Taylor Mabon

January 27, 1957 — September 28, 2022

David Taylor Mabon, age 65, passed from this world into his heavenly home on September 28, 2022. David was born January 27, 1957, to Dale and Norma Mabon at Miami Baptist Hospital, Miami, Oklahoma. He was their only child.


David was a 1980 graduate of Cincinnati Bible College, Cincinnati, Ohio. He was ordained to the Christian ministry on July 6, 1980, at First Christian Church, Miami, Oklahoma.


He married the former Carol Spring on August 16, 1986, in Cincinnati. She survives, as well as their three children, Caitlin Spring Mabon, Mackenzie Joy Mabon, both of Tulsa, and Derek Taylor Mabon, of Springfield, Missouri.


David served as youth minister at the former Mt. Washington Church of Christ, Currently Parkside Christian Church from 1980 - 1988 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Edmond Christian Church, Edmond, Oklahoma, from 1988 - 1990, and First Christian Church , Clinton, Illinois, from 1990 - 1999. He was Senior Minister at East Bartlesville Christian Church, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, from 1999 - 2009, after which he spent 7 ½ years with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, where he worked as a Child Welfare Specialist and then in the Adult and Family Services Division. He entered into semi-retirement as a teacher assistant at Skelly Elementary School, Tulsa, in August, 2021, until March, 2022.


David loved his friends and family, many of which he kept in touch with on Facebook over the years. He was also an avid Oklahoma Sooners fan, especially football and softball.


A celebration of life service will be held at First Christian Church, Miami, Oklahoma, on Monday, October 3, 2022, at 2:00pm, with Burial at GAR cemetery in Miami, following.


David's deepest desire is to welcome all his family and friends into his heavenly home someday. He believes John 14:6 that "Jesus is the way and truth and the life" and John 3:16 "God so loved the world He gave his one and only Son; that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life."
