Darlene Ruth Truman

September 15, 1956 — October 1, 2021

Darlene Ruth (Kasper) Truman, entered into rest, October 1, 2021, at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and was 65 years of age.

Darlene was born on September 15, 1956, in Austin, Texas. She met the love of her life, John E. Truman, in the spring of 1974, and they were married on October 11, 1975. Their honeymoon was the first time that Darlene had left the state of Texas. They traveled through New Mexico, the Oklahoma panhandle, Kansas City, Missouri, to Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Western Arkansas, and back to Texas. They had a loving marriage that endured almost 46 years. Darlene lived most of her life until the age of 18 in the Austin, Texas area. She graduated from WM B. Travis High School in 1975. After marrying John and Darlene lived in Georgetown, Round Rock, and the Austin, Texas area before moving to Sapulpa, Oklahoma, in the spring of 2010. Darlene liked to help the elderly and held positions as home health aide and certified nurse's aide. She worked briefly for Advanced Micro Devices as an unarmed security officer and at Austin Energy. Darlene first learned about the Bible and the hope it contained, despite her parent's objection. She dedicated her life to Jehovah God and was baptized in Taylor, Texas during the circuit assembly in 1973. She was privileged in her early pioneer years to conduct Bible studies and help lead others to Christ. After her graduation from high school, she began full time service with friends in Austin, later Georgetown and Round Rock, Texas. Darlene enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies that included taking photographs of all kinds of things, coloring, reading, especially Facebook baby posts, love of plants and her cats, Cinnamon and Blue Eyes. After their honeymoon, she and John took many other trips to many fascinating destinations with exception of Hawaii, such as, Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Montana, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Delaware, Maryland, three Mexican border towns and a very special chartered trip to New York City in September 2011. On one very special trip to Santa Tecla, El Salvador, she stayed for almost six months to be with a baby boy, Samuel. After a 14-month struggle, she and John were able to gain legal custody and eventually adopt Samuel. Darlene stayed with a special pioneer sister and family, who helped her navigate the legal system. Had she stayed another week of two, she could've applied for residency. Although, she will be deeply missed by all, it will be a blessing to see her again.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Mildred Nilhla (Pitts) Kasper and Albert Kasper, three sons, Matthew Dean Truman, Jeffery Lee Truman, and Daniel Lee Truman, and several aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her loving husband, John of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, son, Samuel Todd Truman of Austin, Texas, brother, Tommy Kasper of Texas, half-sister, Mary Wester of Victoria, Texas, half sister-in-law, Nina R. Childress of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and sister's in-law, Georgia A. (Truman) Jones of Kansas City, Missouri, Marilyn (Truman) Neal of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and numerous nieces and nephews, grandniece, grand nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held a later date.

Arrangements entrusted to Schaudt's Funeral Service, 719 E. 141st Street, Glenpool, OK 74033. Family and friends may leave condolences and share kind words at schaudtfuneralservice.com.
