Conrad Curtiss Coussens

June 26, 1935 — October 15, 2021

Conrad Curtiss Coussens passed away at his Tulsa residence on Friday, October 15, 2021 at the age of 86. He was born on June 26, 1935 in Hartshorne, OK and spent most of his life in Talihina, OK. He was a graduate of Talihina High School and Northeastern State University (Bachelor of Science and Masters degrees). He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Conrad is preceded in death by his first wife, Carole (Handley) Coussens. They had five children and were married for 37 years. He was also preceded in death by his parents Herman Coussens and Marie (Sheely) Coussens, brothers Jerry Coussens and W. Tedd Coussens, and stepdaughter Shawn Madlock.

Conrad and Carole made their home in Talihina where he owned the Gin Store grocery for over thirty years. He also was a teacher/counselor at the Kiamichi Vo-tech in Talihina. He was active in the First Methodist Church, Lions Club, Full Gospel Businessmen, and other Civic and Christian organizations.

Conrad is survived by his wife Winifred (Powell) Coussens of 23 years. They attended Victory Christian Center and Church 3434 in Tulsa. Conrad and Win enjoyed several mission trips as well as other travels in their years of marriage.

Conrad is survived by his five children; son, Brent (Caroline) Coussens, daughters, Cherie (Chad) Craig, Lori (Jeff) Voth, Jill (Brian) Krick, and Leanne (Eric) Smith. He was "Grampy" to sixteen grandchildren, Jonathan (Janne) Coussens, Stephanie (Caleb) Huene, Catherine (Austin) McCarter, Daniel (Sadie) McKenzie, Lauren McKenzie, Jacob (Abby) Voth, Hannah (Mark) Pepin, Caleb Voth, Cody Voth, Benjamin (Annie) Krick, Joseph Krick, Luke Krick, Janae Krick, Katelynn (Luke) Widner, Garrett Smith, and Wyatt Smith and ten great-grandchildren: Joshua, Chloe, Taylor, Cooper, Cora, Carson, Daisy, Anderson, and Juniper. He is survived by cousin (who was like a sister) Priscilla Evans, stepbrother Ed (Kathy) Kunkel, and stepdaughter Cheryl (Jake) Russell, stepson-in-law Gary Madlock, step grandchildren Rance (Delila) Linker, Ketra (Brett) Burns and Landry (Trista) Lake and step great-grandchildren Alexia, Owen, Cy and Tru. And numerous family and friends.

Conrad enjoyed traveling. His children have many summer vacation adventure memories. He also enjoyed missions and had a special calling to Romania where he made numerous trips.
