Carole Sue Von Holten

November 22, 1943 — September 10, 2022

Carole Sue DeLozier Von Holten passed away on September 10, 2022 at the age of 78.

She was born on November 22, 1943 to the late Jewett and Irene DeLozier in Tulsa, Oklahoma after moving as a family from Kinta, Oklahoma. Sue was the baby of her 5 siblings and was undoubtedly treated as such.

In 1961 she graduated high school with the first graduating class at McLain High School, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After graduating, she went to work as an Administrative Assistant. During her early 20s she met the man that would become her husband, Ed Von Holten while getting a donut with a friend. Though they later parted ways, it was obvious to friends and family they were soul mates. During her marriage they had two daughters, Nicki and Dana.

Sue spent most of her professional career working at Central Specialties, Sue later went to work at FlowQuip until her retirement in 2006. While there she cultivated close relationships with her coworkers and was known to be reliable and steady. She was either Carole, Susie or Mama Sue, either way she was there when you needed her.

In her personal life she preferred staying close to home, often preferring conversation over going out. Sue was a loving person you could always count on. When her children were still school aged, they would often take short trips with Barbara, Sue's sister, and her children. The holidays were always a big deal to Sue, decorating and spending time with her family in Sperry at her parent's home or in Edmond with Ed's brother and his family. Although her family was most important to her she had room in her heart to care for others. Many of her daughter's childhood friends thought of Sue as their own mom and she always made them feel welcome. Sue was always a confidant to her inner circles. In the later years Sue enjoyed the neighbors she had gotten to know in her quiet community.

Sue enjoyed a quiet day of putting together a puzzle or enveloping herself with a good book. She was once gifted a Kindle that didn't last long, she loved the satisfaction of turning pages and being present in the story. Sue always enjoyed hearing her grandson Mason sing, watching Luke's college baseball games when they were broadcast and keeping up with Lyndsie's busy social and cheerleading schedule.

Sue is preceded in passing by her parents, Jewett and Irene DeLozier and 2 of her brothers, Jewett "Eddie" DeLozier Jr and Dallas DeLozier.

She is survived by her daughters Carole Nicole Hopper and her son Mason Todd Hopper as well as Dana Lynn Rector (husband Darren) and their two children Luke Holten Rector and Lyndsie Blake Rector. Also surviving is her brother Wayne 'Windy' DeLozier and her sister, Barbara Lehr.
