Brandon Levi Colbert

January 14, 1992 — March 26, 2020

On January 14, 1992 Brandon Colbert was born To Lanisa Colbert and Eric Atkins. Brandon was a beautiful baby boy, and he had such a beautiful aura filled with kindness and love. These qualities would follow Brandon throughout his journey. From a very young age Brandon had a bigger than life personality and people were drawn to him, he also had a heart for serving. Brandon was raised in the church along with Elijah his younger brother, under the pastorship of the late Pastor Fredro Givens, and Pastor Sandra Porter-Givens. During that time Brandon received love, structure, and learned leadership. In his later years Brandon followed in his mother's foot steps and dedicated his time and served at the Tulsa Dream Center. Pastors Tim and Wendell continued providing guidance, accountability and discipline(the kid was hard-headed). Brandon had two beautiful children at a very young age, this was not a burden, this was a blessing because it allowed Brandon a fresh perspective and outlook on life, and what was important to him. It is a blessing to still have a piece of Brandon here through his children. His legacy and memory shall continue and live on. Brandon was a Griot, in West Africa a Griot was a historian, a storyteller, a poet, a musician. Brandon could pull us all together , enrich us, entertain us, Yet capture the essence that was important . A Griot is important, they talk, we listen, and Brandon brought us together with love, laughter, and acceptance. So if you will, please listen one more time, close your eyes and allow these words to penetrate your ears, bring comfort, understanding, and peace.A limb has falling from the family treeI hear a voice that whispers "Grieve not for me"Remember the best times, the laughter, the songsThe good I lived while I was strongContinue my heritage, I'm counting on youKeep on smiling, the sun will shine throughMy mind is at ease, my soul is at restRemembering all... how I was truly blessedContinue traditions, no matter how small Go on with your lives, don't stare at the wallI miss you all dearly so keep up your chinUntil the fine day we are together againBrandon Was preceded in death by Lanisa Colbert (mother) Levi Colbert (grandfather) Dirk Hawthorne(Cousin) Randy Colbert(uncle) Eddie Randall(great grandfather)Susie Gillis(great grandmother)Emicha Colbert(brother), and Tricia Johnson(aunt).Brandon leaves to cherish Evelyn Colbert(grandmother)Eric Atkins(father) Brayden Colbert(son)Zyriah Orman(daughter) Elijah Colbert(brother)Susan Dudley,Angie Dudley, Sharon Johnson, Valerie Atkins(Aunts) Shatoya Grooms(favorite cousin, I taught him how to cook), and a host of other family and friends.
