Billy James Schmidt, Sr.

Billy James Schmidt, Sr., a lifetime resident of Okmulgee, went to be with his Lord on Friday, August 6, 2010 at the age of 80. He was born Monday, April 14, 1930 to Peter and Rosetta (Rich) Schmidt in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Harvest Community Church in Okmulgee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Schmidt, parents, Peter and Rosetta Schmidt, numerous brothers and sisters, granddaughter, Ronelle Han and great grandson, Justyn King. Survivors include his six children, Ann Jacob and husband, Nelson of Preston, Rosetta Han and husband, Robert of Okmulgee, Loretta Porter and husband, Dennis of Rosewell, New Mexico, Billy Schmidt, Jr. and wife, Faye of Lexington, OK, Connie Lewis and husband, Johnny of Bray, OK and Johnny Schmidt and wife, Jennifer of Pryor; his twin sister, Lilly Frye of Okmulgee and sister, Florence Hodge of Oregon; brother, Lawrence Schmidt and wife, Billie of Tulsa; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the Harvest Community Church in Okmulgee with Reverend Paul Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Pallbearers will be Robby Schmidt, Michael Miller, Billy Joe Scoggins, James Scoggins, J.T. Lewis, Johnny Ray Schmidt, Brandon Schmidt, Paul Krull and Danny Taylor. Honorary Pallbearer will be Darrell Koenig. Visitation will be Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee.
