Billy James Arthur Ragan, a resident of Hitchita, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012 at the age of 19. He was born on February 7, 1993 to Billy Wayne and Judy Ann (Winter) Ragan in McAlester, Oklahoma. He graduated from Midway High School in 2011. He enjoyed singing at church and hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his cousin, Johnny James Richard Winter; grandfather, James Andrew Winter; uncle, David Bowder; third cousin, Michael Guzman, great uncle, Charles Welch, great-great grandpa, Henry Thomas and great aunt, Shirley Clark. Survivors include his parents, Billy and Judy Ragan of Hitchita; grandparents, Janice and John Scamardo of Boynton; grandparents, Nadine and Arthur Ragan of Indianola; great grandmother, Florence Winter of Hitchita; brothers, Joshua Ragan of Hitchita and Jamie Ragan and wife, Amy of Muskogee; sisters, Taylor Ragan of Hitchita, Yolanda Ragan of McAlester and Haley Nichole of Okmulgee; nephews, James and Christian Ragan; niece, Alexis Ragan; aunt, Joy Ezell and cousin, Alexis Ezell both of Morris; aunt, Jeanene Davis and husband, Randy and children, Ashley, Greg, and Sherry; uncle, Johnny Ragan and wife, Joan Ragan; great-great aunt, Lorene Barlow; and numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Children of God Church in Hitchita with Reverend Glen Putman officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Children of God Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Pallbearers will be Shane Crawford, Tommy Lucero, Tanner McElhaney, C.J. Ward, Greg Davis and Tony Barnett. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerome Garfield, John Scamardo, Dusty Crawford and Brandon Miller.
