Bill Alfred Miller

William “Bill” A. Miller William “Bill” A. Miller, also known as Goat to many of his friends and family, passed from this earth into the Gates of Heaven, Saturday, April 9, 2011. Bill was born on September 29, 1928 to John and Ivy (Lucas) Miller in Henryetta, Oklahoma. Bill owned and operated Bill Miller, Inc. from 1972 to 2006 in Henryetta. He was a Chief Operating Officer for the joint venture of Bill Miller/Peabody in Alaska which examined Alyeska’s 48” pipeline south of the Yukon. Bill was a lifetime member of the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association, lifetime member of the American Legion, the Elks Lodge, the National Rifle Association and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the First Christian Church. In 1975, he was named Henryettan of the Year. In 2002, he received his High School Diploma from Schulter School for leaving high school to follow his older brothers to serve his country in WWII by joining the United States Navy. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Ivy Miller, wife, Louise (Mobley) Miller; three brothers, Walter Miller, Don Miller and Roy Miller and one sister, Mary Lee Dobbs. Bill is survived by his wife, Sherry (Lee) Miller of the home; one daughter, Vicky Loveless of Broken Arrow; three sons, Cody McCart and wife, Samantha of Okmulgee, Chad Huddleston and wife, Lacy of Henryetta and Billy Huddleston of Okmulgee; one sister, Lucille Hedrick of Henryetta; one brother, Robert Miller of Cypress, TX; Bill had four grandsons, five granddaughters, eleven great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at the Dewar First Baptist Church with Brother Jack Vance officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home of Henryetta. Pallbearers will be Jodi Tidwell, Stephen Tidwell, Brock Rowlett, Bart Rowlett, Joe Smallwood and Brandon Wright. Honorary Pallbearers will be the 2003 Henryetta Knights Baseball State Championship Team, Bud Adams, Floyd Friend, Neal Lackey, Vince Williams, Keith Furer and Dr. Brad Reddick. Military Honors will be conducted at the gravesite by the United States Navy. Visitation will Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Henryetta.
