Benjamin Akira Montgomery

October 7, 1997 — October 10, 2019

Benjamin Akira Montgomery was born on October 7, 1997, at Saint Francis Hospital, and was taken from us much too early, on October 10, 2019. He was a wonderful son, a steadfast friend, and a hero.

Benjamin attended Jenks school his entire school career, from kindergarten through his senior year. He played both basketball and football from the age of ten and into high school. His parents loved to watch him play and were his greatest fans.

Benjamin was a tremendous animal lover and could befriend any dog he happened upon. He had a great affinity for picking the best dogs from a litter. Benjamin was a promising cook and baker and enjoyed cooking for his friends. He was existential in his beliefs, with an interest in our origins, social values, “the greater picture”, and philosophy. He was also just learning to appreciate tenors, like Pavarotti and Bochelli, due to his mother’s influence.

Benjamin is survived by his parents, Tom and Michelle Montgomery, his sisters, Jillian Schneider and Morgan Montgomery, and their children, Oliver, Claire, Liam, and Violet. He also leaves behind his very devoted German shepherd, Oakley.

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, October 18, at 1:00 p.m. at Faith Church (1901 W 171st St S, Glenpool, OK 74033)

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Tulsa, 6232 E. 60th St, Tulsa, OK 74135; 918-495-3647.
