Albert Calvin Phillips

July 26, 1948 — November 11, 2018

A funeral service will be held honoring and remember the life of Albert “Bud” Calvin Phillips on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 11 AM at Cedar Ridge Christian Church, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma with Pastor John Winstead officiating. Albert passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at his home with his family by his side. He was 70.

Bud was born on July 26, 1948 in Porum, Oklahoma to Doris Jean (Call) Phillips and Fred Calvin Phillips. The family relocated to Muskogee, Oklahoma where Bud graduated high school in 1966. After graduation, he attended Okmulgee Tech until he enlisted in the United States Army. Bud served our country proudly for three years until he was honorably discharged.

Following his time in the service, he began his career as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. Bud worked there for 38 years until he retired in 2009.

On April 21, 1972, he married the love of his life, Julane Marie (Toothman) Phillips at Southwest Christian Church in Berryhill, Oklahoma. Together they spent over 46 years happily married in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Bud was an active member at Cedar Ridge Christian Church, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He had a strong passion for the Men's Ministry and even went on a mission trip to Arizona where built schools for children in need.

Bud was an avid hunter and fisher. He enjoyed spending his time camping at Tenkiller and Ft. Gibson Lake. He was a handy man, especially when it came to wood working. Throughout the years, Bud built many things, including a doll house for his daughter and bird houses with his granddaughters. Even though he enjoyed the outdoors and building things, his favorite thing was to spend time with his grandchildren.

There wasn't a day that went by without Bud cracking a joke. He had a great sense of humor and a witty personality. His loving and caring heart allowed him to be patient and kind. No one could ever say a bad word about Bud. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Phillips and father, Fred Phillips.

Survivors include his loving wife, Julane Marie (Toothman) Phillips; daughter, Alicia Careathers and her husband, Shane; son, Stephen Phillips and his wife, Jessica; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Justin, Brandon, Alexis, Charlotte, Evelyn and Kendra; one great grandchild, Averi and several step and great step grandchildren. He also leaves, his mother, Doris Phillips; four sisters, Eva Howard, Beverly Smith, Bertie Evans and Carolyn Ward and one brother, Dug Phillips.
