Alan E Sargent

August 14, 1952 — October 11, 2020

Alan Edward Sargent was born in 1952 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Marianne and Ray Sargent. He graduated Muskogee Central High, spent a short time as an Air Force Academy cadet and went on to Oral Roberts University where he met the woman of his dreams. Alan married Lynn Banks in 1974 and their adventure continued for 46 years as parents to 3 children and grandparents to 11 grandchildren till he went to be with his Heavenly Father at the age of 68 on Sunday, October 11th 2020, at 11pm.

His accomplishments were many, but to name a few, he was awarded Eagle Scout and selected as honor camper in the Order of the Arrow at age 14. He became a real estate agent and broker for his own firm, Homeward Bound Realty in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was certified as a pilot for single engine airplanes. And he was a licensed Drug and Alcohol Abuse Counselor for the State of Arkansas. His most important goal was The Great Commission, which he obeyed to the best of his ability until his last breath.

His hobbies and occupations included… playing board games, coming up with new ideas and projects, inventing, designing landscapes, traveling, taking his family to the movies, grilling out, reading, writing, singing, playing guitar, camping, hiking, and going on dates with his wife. He also loved attending church and studying the Bible. He was an active member of RiverOaks Presbyterian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He spent his last day on earth with his beloved wife, children and grandchildren… He got to hold his 5-month old grandson, read to his 2-year old twin grandsons, watch his granddaughters play and feed the ducks, wheeled his tuckered grandson on the seat of his walker through the park - never a word about his physical ailments. He spent precious moments with his daughter, provided one last meal for his family, and last but not least, he got to be with the “love of his life” as they prayed for everyone on their prayer list, this being their nightly ritual before bed.

Alan lived a life to infinity and beyond… heavenly-minded for earthly good. A husband, father, grandfather, disciple, and mentor - counselor, scout master, missionary, dean of students, teacher, entrepreneur, author and more.

During Alan Sargent’s life here on earth he never stopped… going, giving, and sharing.

A service to celebrate his life and memory will be held at RiverOaks Presbyterian Church in Tulsa on Monday, October 19th 2020 at 2pm for anyone who wishes to attend.
