Mary Anne Copelin

A funeral service celebrating and remembering the life of Mary Anne (Crysel) Copelin will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 10:30 am at Westbury Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. Mary Anne went to be with the Lord Monday, December 4, 2017 with her family by her side. She was 91.

Mary Anne was born August 30, 1926 in Colmesneil, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Edna (Koonce) Crysel and Willie Crysel. Mary grew up in Beaumont, Texas where she attended South Side High School and graduated in 1942. During those years she met the her future husband, Everett Wayne Copelin, Sr. They were high school sweethearts and were married in Coeur D'alene, Idaho on June 3, 1943 while Everett was on military leave from the Navy. They spent 64 years together in Houston, Texas.

Mary Anne was employed as a legal secretary for a few years but her true passion was in ministry and missionary work. She founded Shiphchah Ministries, a ministry of service to those in need. She did most of her missionary work in the Middle East but also taught Sunday school, held Bible study for teenagers and women, and hosted many women's retreats. For years she was faithfully involved in the Braeswood Assembly of God Church in Houston, Texas.

One of Mary Anne's favorite roles was as a grandmother. She especially spoiled her grandchildren during Christmas time, which she absolutely loved. She was a wonderful cook and baker and delighted in hosting dinners, luncheons and brunches. Mary Anne had big vision, and her goal-oriented personality always had the family and friends working on a new project. She had a love for people and a heart for those in need. Mary Anne will be remembered as a faithful person who knew the Bible well and often talked to God.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Walter Crysel and sister, Mytreel McIntyre.

Survivors include son, Everett Copelin, Jr. and his wife, Karen; daughters, Julie Fisher and her husband, Terry, Janis McGinnis and her husband, Mike; grandchildren, Jeni Copelin, Julie Odette, Rhett Copelin, Lindsey Weyer, Allison Ashman, Lynn-Holly Wielenga, Elaine Andino, Adam McGinnis, Michael McGinnis, Andrew McGinnis; and great grandchildren, Sadie, Lily, Jay, Emelia, Rose, Eleanore, Alexander, Everett, Ainsley, Clara. She also leaves her brother, Gayle Crysel, sister, Beth Smith and her beloved nieces and nephews.
