Horace "Hod" Johnson

Horace P. "Hod" Johnson, 69, of Glenpool, OK, passed away in his home Thursday, June 15, 2017.

Hod was born in Eugene, Oregon on August 5, 1947, son of the late Mary Margaret and Sherman Ellsworth Johnson.

He received his BS in Secondary Education & Biology from Western Oregon University in Monmouth, OR in 1969. His contributions to his community included serving as a former member of the Florence Elks Lodge, Florence Planning Commission, and Siuslaw School Board.

Hod married the love of his life, Joyce Louise (Murrell) on July 28, 1979 in Florence, Oregon.

At the time of his death, Hod was employed as a manager with RiverSpirit Casino Resort.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Cathy. Hod leaves many loving memories with his family, wife Joyce, three sons Todd, Gregory, and Devin, and their families; two sisters, Ellen Munday and Elizabeth Rawls; 7 grandchildren, and his father-in-law, Kenneth Murrell.

Hod's Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Tulsa Hills Baptist Church in Tulsa, OK with Pastor Verne McCabe officiating.

Memorials may be made in his memory to the Glenpool Animal Shelter.
